Getting involved

The Komo Centre is currently in its third year of operation – there is much to be done, and much that we want to do. Many people have asked how they can help

Some possibilities are:

Þ Volunteering to help run the Centre.

We have had a number of people who have provided various kinds of services over the past months, from physical labour (a British visitor spent two days preparing our play area) to helping the teachers mind the children. It is all greatly appreciated!

Þ Volunteering to teach. The Centre provides an opportunity for recently qualified graduates or students of special education in other countries to gain experience in an African setting. Our first placement lasted for three months and was a great success

Þ Donations. We are currently existing largely on funds donated by friends and family of the founder, as well as fees paid by the parents of some of our students. We hope eventually to find some international donors who will help us expand our services.

Þ Research. The Komo Centre supports the aims of research into autism, special education, and related fields. We are therefore open to the idea of participating in any research projects by national and international researchers.

For information on any of these possibilities, please contact the founder.
